2019 Taiwan Island Circumnavigation Dream Project
Circling Taiwan is one of the ways many people express their love for and explore Taiwan. Some travel around Taiwan by car, others by bicycle, and some choose the most passionate and solid way: running around Taiwan.
On February 8, 2019, the Taiwan Island Runners Alliance organized a 19-day round-the-island running event, covering a total distance of 1045 kilometers. On average, runners had to complete over 55 kilometers of ultramarathon each day to achieve this feat. To pay the highest tribute to these brave circumnavigators, we specially designed 19 interlocking finisher medals.
The medals are made of crystal and aluminum alloy, with each day’s route, distance, start, and end points printed using a special UV printing method. They are divided into 19 parts and an acrylic frame that can accommodate and display the 19 medals. As these brave runners complete the round-the-island journey, their names are engraved in the lower right corner of the frame. The moment we lift the medal, looking through the transparent spaces on the medal, we seem to see every passionate runner’s figure, congratulating them on achieving their great dream and hoping for an even better tomorrow for Taiwan.
These translations provide a detailed description of the 2019 Taiwan Island Circumnavigation Dream Project and the unique medals designed for the event.
